Hello expert,
Customer is wondering if TPS543B20 has power saving mode could access by external circuit. And also based on table 5 in datasheet, why we cannot enable API and BB in master/slave mode? Thanks a lot!

Hi Ann,
Did you mean if the device had a power save mode?
Regards,
Gerold
Ann,
1) The TPS543B20 does not have an eco/skip mode to reduce power consumption at very light load, it runs at the full programmed frequency across all load conditions, including negative load.
2) Advanced Pulse Injection and Body Breaking (API / BB) do not interact and respond well with the current-sharing loop in a stacked configuration because only the Master device can observe the output voltage, which triggers API and BB. The API and BB response during transient forces a load imbalance between Master and Slave, which then forces an ISHARE loop response. As a result, we do not allow API or BB to be enabled when the part is used in a a multi-phase stack.
Hello Peter,
Thansk for reply and we would like to see if we have solution which could support both API/BB enabled and master/slave operation. Could you kindly help to provide solution for us? Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
Ann Lien
Ann,
Because Advanced Pulse Injection and Body Breaking rely on direct sensing of the output voltage in order to respond to an output voltage deviation, and only the Master device in a multi-phase stack using the TPS543B20 observes the output voltage, API and BB are not effective in a multi-phase stack and they introduce large dynamic current differentials between the Master and Slave, so it is not possible to enable API and Body Breaking on the TPS543B20.
If you need multi-phase operation and improved transient performance, I would recommend looking at multi-phase controllers.
