BQ34Z100-G1: Considerations for using BQ34Z100-g1 with Battery pack that integrates internal protection?

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610,

Hello Team,

I wanted to verify from the Gauging perspective if there are any concerns with using the BQ34Z100-g1 with the following battery pack that integrates an OVP/UVLO and Current Limit feature.  We plan on partnering this gauge with the BQ24610 charger with a 24VDC input.

  • Hi Julio,

If you use a battery with an inbuilt protector the gauge has no clue if the protector trips. Other than that, you are OK so long as you find out the chem ID and follow the standard procedure to learn the battery profile for the gauge.
