TPS65632: Question for CTRL and programmable Vneg

Part Number: TPS65632

Hi, team.

i've been asked by customer as below.

Q1

Customer doesnt want TPS65632 Vnge beyond -3.0V since their load can't withstand default Vneg as -4.0V.

(preferred Vneg is -3.0V).

when should customer do programming for Vneg after CTRL high?

After CTRL high, when will IC allow customer to put the digital signal to program the Vneg?

Q2.

in datasheet, it shows below.

"Note that to ensure proper start up CTRL must be pulled low for a minimum of 200 µs before being pulled high again."

does it mean what if customer does CTRL low, they need to wait at least 200us to make it High again?

  • HI,

I have notified our expert regarding this topic. Please expect a response by 10/04/19.

    Thanks

  • Hi, Morita-san.

    thanks your reply.

  • Hello Takahashi-san,

A1: Customer should wait minimum 400us after CTRL is high to start the programming pulses on CTRL.

A2: If the intention is to disable the ELVDD/ELVSS converters, than CTRL should be pulled low for minimum of 200us. Offcourse, if the intention is to program the device, than CTRL should be pulled low for much shorter period of time any where from 2us - 25us (typical is 10us).

I hope this clarifies operation and answers your questions.

    Kind Regards,

    Liaqat

  • Hi, Khan-san

    in datasheet shows below,

when should customer wait 200us ? is it after EN is low in 200us and make it CTRL high after EN low in 200us?

    7.3.5 Enable (CTRL)
The CTRL pin serves two functions: one is to enable and disable the device, and the other is to program the
output voltage (VNEG) of the inverting buck-boost converter (see Programming VNEG). If the VNEG programming
function is not required the CTRL pin can be used as a standard enable pin for the device, which will start up
with its default value of –4.0 V on VNEG. The device is enabled when CTRL is pulled high and disabled when
    CTRL is pulled low.
Note that to ensure proper start up CTRL must be pulled low for a minimum of 200 μs before being pulled high
    again.

  • Hello Takahashi-san,

Just to make the nomenclature clear, there is only one signal name and it is CTRL i.e. there is no separate EN signal.

If the device is disabled by pulling CTRL low, the system should wait 200us or longer before making CTRL high again to enable the device again.

Please feel free to e-mail directly using my TI e-mail address if you have further questions.

    Kind Regards,
