Hi,

Just a quick note, on the BQ76940EVM schematics (in the guide document) the gas gause BQ78350DBT-R1 is written as

BQ78350DBT which is a part not recommended for new design. On the BOM list it is written correctly:

BQ78350DBT-R1.

Since I want to buy one dev board please confirm to me that you do not put the chip

BQ78350DBT onto the EVM but the BQ78350DBT-R1 version.

Hi Andras,
I confirm that BQ78350DBT is on the BQ76940EVM.
BQ78350-R1 & BQ78350 share the same HW (aka same IC), the difference being the firmware. Please download the BQ78350-R2 firmware (the latest one) for your project.

Hi,

But my problem is that the page of BQ78350 says that it is not recommended to new design:

www.ti.com/.../BQ78350

An it is recommended to be replaced with BQ78350-R1. This is my problem. So why it is not recommended for new design?

Or put in another way, if it is so why is not replaced by the R1 type?

For production or your own development, we are indeed recommending you use BQ78350-R1 with the BQ78350-R2 FW. As I mentioned earlier, BQ78350 is the same hardware as BQ78350-R1 but has an old firmware.

We just have not updated the BQ76930EVM.
