BQ24650: Recommended products for Lead Acid Battery

Dear team,

Now, I am looking for battery IC for Lead Acid Battery.

Our customer is designing an application using lead-acid batteries, and at that time we are trying to use a charging IC for lead-acid batteries.

They are looking for ICs under the following conditions.

  1. Charging lead-acid batteries from solar panels (20W / 1A to 40W / 2A).
  2. The input voltage of the device after the IC is 24 to 4.5V
  3. With protection circuit (OVP and overdischarge protection)
  4. Simple internal structure and low cost
  5. It would be even better if the current value of charge / discharge was found from the IC

I am thinking about the following devices.

・BQ24650

・BQ24450

I would like to ask the following questions.

  1. The above TI products are active, can I suggest it?
  2. Is there any other recommended charging IC?

        If using a solar panel input source, we have an application note for using BQ24650 to charge lead acid batteries. BQ24650 for solar panel input source is better as it employs input voltage regulation and can regulate the solar panel so that it is operating at its maximum power point.     BQ24650 has inbuilt BAT_OVP comparator, and can support up to 26V charge regulation. Check max charge voltage of lead-acid battery and not nominal when deciding if BQ24650 can be used.
