how to get the maximum current value of charge pump output when the IC is designed

Hi,

May I ask about how to get the maximum current value of charge pump output when the IC is designed? I find that current output capacity is far beyond the spec on the datasheet, so I wanna know how  the spec of charge pump is designed when designed? Thanks!

  • Hi Miles,
the current capability of the internal FET, power loss and thermal performance will define the maximum of a converter. what is the input/output condition in your project

  • Thanks for our reply. Actually, I want to know if the duty if charger pump is 50%, and then what is the relationship between current limit and maximum value of output current. If a charge pump is shown as below, vin=6V, Vout=-5.5V, then Iout max=? What about current limit and the relationship between current limit and output current value? I wish to get your reply, thanks!

  • Hi Miles,

the output voltage will drops as the output current increases, refer to the page 11 of the datasheet. if the output current is high, the output voltage may be not acceptable.   the power loss and thermal also limit the maximum output current. the datasheet nomally specify maximum output current.

the integrated current limit function is to protect the inrush current through the FET at short circuit condition.
