Hi,
I have designed a charging ckt using BQ24072TRGTR. Charging current set to1.3A. I am able to observe the charging current, but the IC is getting heated up very fast. How control the over heat issue. Please suggest.

Hi Rajani,
Since the concern is the chip overheating, I'm wondering what battery voltage and input voltage you're seeing.

Hi Anthony,
I a using 3.6V Li-Ion battery, rated capacity :2500 mAh, charge voltage : DC4.2V.
Am applying 5.2V at Vin.
Regards Rajani.
Hi Rajani,
With the given information from your schematic as well (VIN = 5.2, Charge Current = 1.3A, & VBAT = 3.6V), I found the temperature to be over 100C. What temperature are you seeing?
I'd recommend decreasing the input voltage, decreasing the charge current, or adding a thermal ground plane in your design.
