LM3492: Dimming noise, how to improve ?

Part Number: LM3492

Hi

We are implementing 10 bit resolution dimming with the restriction of 300 ns PWM puls width, we can only do 3K Hz PWM dimming.

We heard noise from output capacitor vibration.

Any suggestion to improve the noise?

  • Hello PYTsai,

You can do an internet search for 'low noise ceramic capacitor' or 'low audible noise ceramic capacitor'.  Murata is one manufacturer that has addressed this, you can look at their information.

Other things to try are using through hole ceramic to decouple the capacitor from the PCB.  Potting the board can also help.  Even trying other manufacturers of capacitors can make a difference.

    Best Regards,
