I think, the device has Voltage monitoring and Temperature monitoring functions.

Charging Current, Can I reduce it?

    Hello

    The BQ2002D and BQ2002X family of devices will turn on / off an external current source to charge a NiCd or NiMH battery.  BUT device is not a current regulator, this is an external circuit typically LM317.

    Sorry No cannot reduce charging current.
