BQ25505: Optimizing harvesting for indoor IOT applications

Part Number: BQ25505

Hi Support Team

Working on a project where we need to harvest energy in a indoor well lit application. The issue we are having is the MPPT takes too long to converge. What we are seeing is say the lights come on, it takes the device 26 seconds to settle and start producing energy. Is there a way we can either speed up convergence, or set it to a fixed value?

Device only operates when lights are on, storage element is a cap

Thanks

  • Jeff,

You could program the MPPT regulation point to a lower value as described in section 7.3.1 of the datasheet using a resistor divider on VOC_SAMP. The trade off would be less efficient energy harvesting from the PV panel.

    Thanks,

    Ricardo
