DCR010503: Is DCR01 still a valid solution for new projects?

Part Number: DCR010503
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5020, UCC24610, DCR012403

Hi,

Required insulation:> 500V DC / AC RMS

DCR01 series is suitable for customer use, I would like to ask you if it can be used in new projects in terms of longevity, and possibly I would like to ask you an alternative proposal usable in a new project.

It should be used in a temperature controller together with delta sigma ADC and a power supply made of LM5020 + UCC24610
Many Thanks,
Antonio
  • Hi Antonio,

Looking at the TI parametric search table, your application can narrow the search down to the DCR012403 isolated DC/DC converter. This device has a Vin_max of 26.4V for Iout_max of 300mA and Vout_max of 3.3V which should suit your conditions.

The DCR01x series of isolated, regulated power modules should be suitable in your application. The isolation voltage rating can be found in Section 8.3.1.4 of the datasheet. In order to keep the device in proper operation with expected functionality, no more than 42.4Vrms or 60Vdc should be applied across the isolation barrier. In your case you will only go up to 26V so this should be fine.

Additionally the DCR01 series of power modules have been tested at 1kVac for one second.

  • Hi Jimmy,

    Thanks for the inputs.

Customer is ok to use DCR012403, do we have the reel version or tray one?

The customer manufacturing needs these packaging and not the TUBE.

    Many Thanks,

    Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

Unfortunately the DCR012403 only comes in tube packaging. The tape&reel option has been obsolete and removed on Digikey and Mouser only offers tube packaging. Can the customer manufacturing work with these in tube packaging or is this a hard stop?

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

Ok thanks for customer this is hard stop. They can just use reel or tray version. Do we have something similar with DCR012403 but in reel or tray package?

    Many Thanks,

    Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

Unfortunately what you see in the screenshot snippet I've attached above is what is available in the TI portfolio for an isolated power module that may meet your 26VIN/3.3VOUT/300mA condition.

I do know that Digikey offers the ability to transfer compatible parts from Tape & Reel to Tube packaging and vice versa. Perhaps you can contact a Digikey representative to get more information on the conversion process.

    Regards,
    Jimmy
