TPS2660: criteria A performance for surge EFT

I was referring to slva833c. My downstream electronics is powered with +/-12V DC. I would like to protect it using efuse solution. Could you please guide, if the circuit mentioned in the article (slva833c) could be used to achieve criteria-A performance, meaning that output voltage is not lost during surge eft event.

Hello Gary,

For Class-A Performance, TPS2663 devices are more suitable. For test results with TPS2663 on surge & EFT tests, please refer to Section 3.4.6 and 3.4.7 in the user's guide :

Yes it should work for 4kV EFT levels, A higher capacitance (~10uF) at IN pins of TPS2663 would be required.

Hi Lokesh

One fundamental questions remain unanswered. How do we connect PCB ground (TPS2663) and chassis ground(protective earth). I guess EFT energy should be diverted away from PCB ground

Hello Gary,

Protective earth (PE) is usually connected to casing or housing of the product. there in no provision on TPS26630-33EVM to connect the PE terminal.

For surge and EFT tests, L&N from Surge/EFT generator were connected to input of TPS26630-33EVM.
