BQ2057: Low-Side Current Sensing

Figure 6 of bq2057c data sheet P11 shows the Low-Side Current Sensing diagram. As shown in this figure,
The SNS pin voltage is lower than the Vss pin voltage, so it may not work. Isn't the arrangement of the SNS

pin and Vss pin reversed? (Isn't the SNS pin connected to BAT-?)

    The BQ2057 is a very old device with high external parts count, we have a number of other options for single cell 4.2V charging.  If you provide your requirements we can try and identify a better solution from our current products.

    A couple of other device to look at, if the input voltage is 10V or less take a look at BQ24001, 02 or 04.  If the input voltage is 5V take a look at the BQ2404X family of devices.

    For higher input voltages an output current we have switching converters.
