TPS561208: Clarification regarding IOCL

Part Number: TPS561208

Hello!

(1)

On the datasheet electrical characteristics, it mentions that IOCL has a min rating of 1.2A and max rating of 2A.

From how I understand the datasheet, IOCL is the current threshold at which the overcurrent protection will be triggered. Therefore, OCP will be triggered when output current is at least 1.2A?

At 2A and above, does this mean that this is the point at which OCP may no longer work, and hence, cause a permanent damage to the device?

Can you please help confirm if I understood it correctly?

(2)

The test conditions for this parameters are "DC current, VOUT = 1.05 V, L1 = 2.2 µH" according to the datasheet.
For different test conditions, is it correct that the min and max values of IOCL will be different.

However, generally for this device, at other VOUT setting or L1 value, will the OCP still trigger at currents above 1.2A?

Thank you for all your help

Kind Regards

  • Hi,

The min and max ILIM mean the value is between 1.2A to 2A. The value is affected by temperature and application. Also for different devices, the value is different because of the process.

That means the the ILIMT value ranges with different IC and situation.
