BQ34110: Initial configurations

Part Number: BQ34110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCEDV, BQSTUDIO

Hi All,

I have BQ34110 sensor. I am able to read the voltage and current values from the registers : 0x08/09, 0x0C/0D respectively.

I want to read the status of the battery like the state of charge, the remaining capacity of the battery.

For that should I first write the capacity of the battery which I am using to the sensor first or will it calculate by its own ?

What are the initial configurations needed to use the sensor.

Can anyone please explain ?

Thanks :)

Vibhu.

  • Hi Vibhu,

Those values will be calculated by the gauge. Please refer to the TRM for setup instructions.

  • Hi Batt,

I went through the TRM and I am not able to understand much of it.

Here it says User-specified battery level but when I read this register I am getting only the default value.

Can you please tell how or point me to the exact place where it is given in TRM.

    Thanks :)

    VIbhu.

  • Hi Vibhu,

The Design Capacity is set by you, the user.  You will get this information from the battery datasheet.

The first step in setting up the device to work with your battery will be first using the GPCCEDV tool to determine the battery parameters.

Once you have the CEDV parameters determined and have programmed them to the gauge in bqStudio, you will need to change the default values in the gauge to match that of your implementation.

More information on the GPCCEDV tool may be found here:

When you visit the page, there is an instructional PDF available that describes the process.

    Sincerely,
