BQ24616: BQ24616 only be charged to 16.4v

Part Number: BQ24616

Hi

Battery 16.8 V, 12 Ah, set 3A charging current, quick charge safety time is set to 5 H (C = 56 nf).

Pre-charge current and terminate current is set to 300 mA but only can be charged to 16.4 V.

Remove the battery test BQ24616 output voltage is 16.8V. After parameter adjustment, quick charge safety time is set to 10 H (C = 0, 1 uF).

The cut-off current is 30 mA, battery only charged to 16.4 V, the final phase is the constant voltage of 16.8 V, why the voltage is 16.4 V,Unplug the battery and test BQ24616 output voltage is 16.8V.

Please give some suggestions.

Thanks

Star

  • Hi Star,

Instead of measuring SRN, can you measure VFB pin? The resistive voltage divider from battery (SRN) to this node adjusts battery regulation voltage, and BQ24616 regulates charge voltage according to the voltage on this pin. The fact that you see 16.8V on SRN means the resistor divider is correctly set to correspond to a charge regulation voltage of 16.8V. When you unplug the battery, can you also capture SRN on scope with a time scale of 200ms or 400ms?
