BQ76940: How disable bq76940 protection function?

Part Number: BQ76940
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350

I know that in bq78350+bq76940 applications, I can disable all protection function.

But how do I disable all protection in MCU+bq76940 applications?

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks!

  • Hi Skate,

Protections in the BQ76940 can not be disabled. When used with the BQ78350 it will set the BQ76940 voltage protections to a wider value so that they are unlikely to trip and use them as secondary protections.  OCD and SCD are still used for fast response.  Other faults are typically cleared quietly.

To eliminate protection from the BQ76940 you need to work around the protection or control the FETs from the MCU.  See the application note http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua805 for an example of such a method.
