EV2400: EV2400 interface

I plan to create a wireless system by using EV2400 and bq4050.The configuration setup as below.As I know, EV2400 should install driver when it's connected to PC.So if I connect EV2400 to wifi module as below,do i need to add any interface driver between them?

Hello Nazri,

You are better off not using the EV2400 in this application. You can use a BeagleBone to run embedded linux and use the i2c dev tools in order to read smbus and then interface with your WiFi module. The EV2400 requires windows drivers which may not be available on your WiFi module.

can you share the configuration setup fro beaglebone as equivalent function as EV2400?

is that possible I use beaglebone integrate with wifi module and display bqstudio at laptop?

Hello Nazri,

The BeagleBone in my experience can run something similar to Raspbian which contains a built-in I2C/SMBus library on the application layer. You could potentially try that.

Not sure why you would need a WiFi module...

I think I want to use BeagleBone^® Black Wireless.I want to use a wireless because we want to to monitor the BMS in a distance.

I want to display the bqstudio at laptop as similar function with the wired connection with ev2400,how is the setup for beagebone?Not much documentation for Ev2400 that can be adapted for beaglebone...

Hello Nazri,

That is correct, but you don't need a USB to I2C stack implementation on the Beagle, you can use ssh.

It is certainly a cool application. Why WiFi over Bluetooth?

As far as the I2C libraries are concerned, you can reference this example: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua801/slua801.pdf

The appendix should help a little bit.

We do not use the WiFi module to send data packets, but I suppose you could once you have the I2C registers stored in a variable.

Hi Kang

Thank for your explanation.let me inform you why I need to apply wifi/bluetooth.I want to apply the bms module to vehicle at resort.So we need a PC at the base office to monitor the battery activities..I will get the beaglebone unit first and will query you further if I face a problem during the setup.
