TPS1663: Question about the capability of this device

Genius 4220 points
Part Number: TPS1663
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2662, TPS2H160-Q1

Hi,

I'd like to ask about following thing,

1. Regarding the article below,
http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slyy168/slyy168.pdf

It says that eFuse doesn't cover "Inductive Load Compatibility".
I'd like to know the tangible reason why eFuse doesn't cover it

Sincerely,

Go

  • Hello Go,

As in the case of inductive load, the output of eFUSE can go negative due to energy stored in inductive load. An addition diode and sufficient cap on output will be required to prevent the output voltage from going negative. This is illustrated in Section 11.1 in datasheet of TPS2662 .

But a smart power switch device like TPS2H160-Q1 has integrated VDS clamping for driving inductive loads.
