TPS16630-32EVM: Question about output capacitor value

Part Number: TPS16630-32EVM

Hi,

On TPS16630-32EVM, there is 1000uF on each output.
Is such a huge amount of capacitor absolutely necessary for appropriate operation of this EVM?

    Hello Go,

    For operation of TPS16630 or TPS16632 device, a min cap 0.1uF is required on output.

    Thank you for your comment.

    I understand we don't need such a large capacitor for proper operation.

    Could I ask you two more things about TPS16630-32EVM?

    1. Regarding the large output cap, Is the purpose just for keeping the high power output line stable, is it correct?? 

    2. TPS16630-32EVM can apply up to 60V on input, but we need to change some settings and components for use in 60V input. right?

    Yes, large cap on output is required for load transients and provide power to load during input power interruption or failure.

    2. TPS16630-32EVM can apply up to 60V on input, but we need to change some settings and components for use in 60V input. right?

    For 60V operation; please refer to TPS16630 schematic in Section 3 of user's guide: TPS2663-166EVM: Evaluation Module for TPS2663xPWP and TPS1663xPWP (Rev. A)
