BQ25710: input current limit

Part Number: BQ25710

Hi team,

As mentioned in the datasheet, the actual input current limit being adopted by the device is the lower setting of REG0x3F() and pin. With REG0x3F set as 6.3A, ILIM_HIZ disabled, the input current limit should be 6.3A. However, in my setup, Vadapter=19V, Iadapter_limit=10A, Vsys=16.4V, battery disconnected, when Isys increases to larger than 5.6A, the system enters pre-charge mode, Vsys drops to 3V, and the output of the adapter is limited to around 5A. Is it because of Vin, DPM? Is there any other possibilities?

Regards,

Hongjia

  • Hi Hongjia,

Yes, VINDPM is one of the possible reason to cause this. Could you check the VBUS before Vsys drop?

I assume you already set REG31[7]=0 to disable the ILIM_HIZ pin influence on input current limit right?

Please also monitor REG20H for status track to see if there is any unusual scenario happens.

By the way are this measurement is based on TI EVM?  How much sensing resistor used on the board?

    Regards
