TPS63060: Reducing Inrush current

Dear Support team,

I could find approx 2.2A inrush current at start up in Figure 27 and 28 of datasheet. The inrush current is limited by Typ2.25A defined as average inductance current limit, isn't it?

I want to reduce the inrush current.
I can find application note "Extending Soft Start Time in the TPS6107x Family of Boost Converters". Will this method described in it be used for TPS63060 also?

Hi Hirokazu:

Yes, during the startup, the converter need to charge the output capacitance and supply the load. So there will be an inrush current. The inrush current could exceed the limitation, as the limitation is aimed to limit the average current. Reduce the output capacitance and disable the load during the startup could reduce the inrush current.

And the application note is suitable for TPS63060.

You could have a look on TPS63050/1. It has adjustable current limitation.

Thanks for your support.
I found "Dynamically Adjustable Output Using the TPS63000".

According to the app note, we can control the output voltage with external DAC.
If Output voltage is slowly increased by the external DAC, is it possible to decrease inrush current at start-up?

Hi Hirokazu-san:

If you don't mind the complex, of curse you could use the DVS solution. As it has the same basic principle with "extend the soft start time" by make the FB higher to decrease the current set value inside the circuit.
