BQ34110: EOS parameter configuration and Learned Rcell Value

Part Number: BQ34110

Hi,

My battery configuration is 4S2P config with 16Ah capacity, I set my EOS learn discharge current to C/10=1.6A but I'm a little confused on how long should the learn discharge time be? can you explain how to compute the Rcell value during this learn discharge phase?

Also, how to obtain these EOS parameters:

Thanks.

  • Hello Erika,

I've assigned this to one of our applications engineers, they will respond shortly.

As far as the EOS learning, I would refer you to pages 47 and 48 of our TRM: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubf7a/sluubf7a.pdf

I would actually set your time to match your typical system discharge time. The EOS algorithm will use the relaxation portion after the discharge ends to determine the EOS parameters.

  • The default of 500 seconds is typically sufficient for the gauge to learn Rcell. Please leave this default unless you run into problems when learning Rcell.

Initial Rcell doesn't have to be specified, you can let the gauge measure it with the EOS_RCELL_RRATE_LEARN command.

Please see the following for the Rcell temperature coefficients:
