BQ35100: Calibration problem

Part Number: BQ35100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi :

I am using the TI meter. I have two questions for you. Please help me answer them.Thank you.

I used TI BQ35100, I saw the description of BQ35100EVM, calibrating CC Offset,Board Offset must be 0 Load,Currect=0, actually our operation is to design BQ35100 into our product PCB, how to achieve calibrating CC Offset,Board Offset is 0 Load?

2.Battery Management Studio has a parameter file of various batteries certified by TI. I found the Battery we used (Chemistry) and clicked OK. However, the Battery parameters in Gas Gauging have not changed. What does Chemistry do?What does the battery parameter library do?Also please help answer, thank you.

  • Hi Ren

-You make sure to not have you load powered on when doing the ccoffset.

    - Programming the chem id programs the OCV table and the  resistance tables. The OCV  table are proprietary and as such are hidden. The Resistance  tables will be what you will see that get updated. These tables are look up tables which the gauge uses to ensure accuracy. What kind of lithium primary battery are you using?

    thanks

  • 1、when I calibrate CC offset and board offset,  the bqstudio report:Calibration- Current flow across sense resistor, Please ensure no current is flowing and retry calibration.

    I get the info from:https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/p/785441/2912877#2912877

CC Offset and Board Offset are values which are changed during the calibration procedure using the calibration plug-in. These short across SRN and SRP internally and open SRN and SRP internally when 0 current is flowing to calculate CC Offset (Short SRN-SRP) and Board Offset (Open SRN-SRP).

Short and open SRN-SRP can do this to finish calibration?

    2、thank you。I know the  chemistry.

my battery :EVE_ER34615 (19000mAh) lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) cel
Now I have a problem:  OCV table and the  resistance tables data how i can flash to my project?

my project have so many chips, I can`t flash it by bqstudio. I can only bringup.

    thanks.

  • You have to ensure your load is disabled when doing the offset calibration

for mass production, you have to extract a golden srec, bqfs or dffs. This file is what you will program on the device using your host.

    thanks
