CCS/BQ40Z60: Unexplained power downs that may be related to BTP operations

Part Number: BQ40Z60
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

We are getting intermittent power downs where the BQ appears to shut off the DSG FET for no apparent reason. We are logging at the time and see that the BTP_INT bit is either set in these cases or has been recently cleared (in the last 2-20 minutes). We have BTP_EN = 0, so we should not get any unnecessary BTP behavior.

This is in fielded equipment, and we have not been able to replicate in the lab. So we don't have much to go on.

Any ideas on what this might tell us?

Thanks,

     Aaron

  • Hi Aaron

Unfortunately, the info you have provided is not sufficient to determine what is wrong with the unit. Is this issue a one off or it has happened on several? You need to try to replicate this behavior in the lab while logging with bqstudio so we understand what is going on. Right now anything I suggest or recommend will just be speculation. We need data to take a more specific approach.if it is not possible to replicate can you add more registers to  your log such as  battery status, safety status, PF status

    thanks

    Onyx
