BQ4050: learning cycle

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hi, I have few more questions regarding previous discussions on power management forum  about learning cycle process on bq4050 by bqstudio:

1)slua848 describes the method for successful learning cycle , how ever it is not relevant for bq4050 . slua848 tells that the learning cycle will update Ra table and Qmax- both are not included at the bq4050 data memory. so, which registers does the learning cycle process update?

2)slua848 say that the user should modify the "update status" field- again , it's not included at bq4050 data memory- so , during the learning cycle - does the user should press anything ?

3) how long do you suggest to relax between charge and discharge (at learning cycle) ? for good OCV measurement ( or it's not relevant here either?)

4) Will the bq4050 continue to update the registers of your answer for question num. 1 for each charge-discharge cycle?

5)after we've inserted the GPC parameters into data memory (bqstudio) the capacity shown at auto refresh panel is 100% when we connect the charger, HOWEVER , the expected capacity is only ~10%.
what can be the reason for this error?

I attach the gpc results here:

SOC, % OCV, mV
0 2605
10 3192
20 3237
30 3265
40 3277
50 3281
60 3285
70 3302
80 3323
90 3327
100 3419

EMF 3215
EDVC0 115
EDVC1 0
EDVR1 1
EDVR0 6450
EDVT0 4119
EDVTC 9

I could not find the register for the next 3 parameters:

VOC75 11806
VOC50 11425
VOC25 11256

Are they relevant?

6) Are these the only registers from the gpc tool we should write to data memory ?

  • Hi Victor,

questions 1-4 is not applicable to this gauge because this a CEDV gauge and not impedance track.

The three parameters from the tool which you didn't see see in DF, ignore.

Cycle the cell, ie charge to full and discharge to empty. The gauge will learn FCC and should be accurate afterwards.

If that doesn't happen, pls the log file of your cycles and your gg file.

    thanks

    Onyx
