BQ24072: battery charge controller

Part Number: BQ24072

Hello There,

I am having a problem that when the battery got disturbed like if I plug out and plug in the battery in fraction of second the battery is charging but LED at CHG pin doesn't blink, on the other hand if I repeat the same process but with the plug out and plug in interval more then previous one LED at CHG pin blinks and battery get charging. What should be the reason behind this?

I have attached the schematic of BQ24072 charge controller.

  • Hi Suraj,

Typically the device checks for a battery disconnect every 250 ms so  if you are disconnecting and reconnecting the battery <250 ms the /CHG pin will not toggle and the LED will not reflect a battery disconnect. In the other situation where you are disconnecting for longer, the device sees a battery disconnect due to >250ms battery removal.

If you are able to send waveforms of voltages at CHG pin and BAT, I could verify.
