Hi,

  • Can this IC be used for a discharge current of 10A  battery management system?
  • Does this IC take care of battery discharge current or a separate circuit need to be accommodated for this purpose?

    Hey Harini,

    1) This is only a controller, so the discharge current capability will be based on several factors:

    a. ACx sense resistor and the internal current limit

    b. Power rating of either the input ACFET/RBFET when the adapter is present, and the power rating of the external BATFET

    2) The discharge current when in battery only mode is handled by the external BATFET. Refer to Figure 26. Typical System Schematic for 5V Input 1S Battery of the datasheet, and see component Q5.
