TPSM84624: Synchronization (CLK) mode

Part Number: TPSM84624

Hi there,

The TPSM84624 datasheet says that "Select RRT to set the frequency close to the external synchronization frequency.". I have a couple of questions here.

1. How much close should it be?

2. What will happen if external synchronization frequency is not close to the switching frequency set by RRT?

Thanks & BR,
Ghasem

  • Hi Ghasem,

Generally you want to pick the RRT value close to the external synchronization frequency in order to prevent undershoot and overshoot in your output voltage during RT mode to SYNC mode transition and vice versa. Output undershoot will occur when switching frequency drops and output overshoot will occur when switching frequency increases to RT mode frequency.

My recommendation is to test with an evaluation kit  to see what configuration is desirable in your application.

    Regards,

    Jimmy
