TPSM84209: TPSM84209 vs ‎TPS54302 for low ripple especially in ECO mode

Hello, I have been using the ‎TPS54302, but finding in the skip/ECO mode (<0.5 A), the ripple is larger than I'd like. Would the TPSM84209 perform better? I do like the lower BOM count on the TPSM84209. Any other pro/cons to consider in comparing these devices?

Vin 14-18V

Vout 5V

Use ranges anywhere between 200mA to 1.25A.

Hi Jim,

Please look at Figure 8 of the TPSM84209 datasheet to understand the expected voltage ripple for a 5V output. The trace in black (5V trace) shows roughly 30mV output ripple course case with the minimum required Cout and 12V input. It will be slightly larger given that your input voltage is 14V-18V. I'd expect the ripple to reduce with more Cout.

What is your maximum output ripple requirement?
