LMR14020: If in a asynchronous buck regulator like LMR14020, freewheeling diode becomes open circuit then how the o/p will behave

Hi everyone,

I am working with asynchronous regulator like LMR14020 which has a freewheeling diode at the SS pin which is the o/p voltage pin. If the freewheeling diode gets damaged which is used to discharge the inductor when the High Side Mosfet is OFF , then how the o/p will behave

Hi,

What do you refer to by o/p voltage pin? Is that also a SW pin instead of SS pin?

O/P pin is SW not SS, I had also created one similar thread with the correction

Hi,

If the freewheeling diode is open circuit then the output will not regulate properly. The more problem happens if the freewheeling diode is shorted then there is a potential damage happening to the IC High Side MOSFET
