TPS2493: Potential Oscillation Benchmark

Hi Team,

My customer is looking to see if we have any benchmark data on the TPS2493.

The primary concern has to do with the potential voltage oscillation due to controlled switching. Consider the case where there are 10 hotswap controllers with shared Vin and individual switched Vout.

Do we have any benchmarked data on how the controlled slew rate might introduced unwanted oscillation on the Vin rail, so in a worst case scenario a large enough oscillation might turn-off all downstream loads due to OVLO?

Please let me know if this makes sense.

Hi Mitchell,

We can expect Vin ringing during hot-plug-in and plug-out conditions due to the parasitic inductance on the source side. But, Vin should not oscillate when the hot-swap is turned-on with controlled slew rate. Please refer http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva703/slva703.pdf for more information on possible system transients

Can you share schematic, system block diagram, test waveforms, system & PCB images to understand the issue.
