Hello,

I am using the eval board, with the test setup described in the user guide. However, when the enable jumper is turned to ON it looks like there is a short, the input voltage drops from 12V to 2.5V. Current draw is less than 0.5A. I am using a load resistor of 2 ohms (30W). My output voltage jumper is is set to 3.2V. Switching the jumper back to the off enable jumper, the input voltage shows 12 V.

Hi Max,

Can you confirm that the bench supply providing current to the EVM is not hitting current limit?

The bench supply is not limiting current. The max current is at 5A.

Hi Max,

There may be a couple of things happening here.

First, the device is hitting current limit with 2 ohms on the output when the Vout is 3.2V.

The maximum current of the device is 1A which is where current limit can kick in.
The current limit setting is nominally 1.25A.

To continue troubleshooting, I would start by increasing the load resistor.
You can try 10 ohms if that value is available.
This equates to 320mA, which is well within the operation of the linear regulator.

See if it starts up and let me know what you see.
