TPS2595: Current limit value and FLT pin

Part Number: TPS2595

Hi,

I am FAE, a distributor of TI products.
I'm getting questions from my customers, so getting information from you can be very helpful.
(1) If the FLT pin is not used, can the pin be open? (Or better to pull up)
(2) The current limit value (ILIMIT) will be set to 0.6A.
Is there any variation data for this value? (MIN and MAX values)

I calculated ILIMIT using Equation 4 in the data sheet before answering the customer.
The result is:
What is the reason for this, although there is a slight difference in electrical characteristics from TYP?
At 4.17A, RLIM is 484Ω
At 1.17A, RLIM is 1770Ω
At 0.49A, RLIM is 4444Ω
Best regards,
  • Hi Kaji,

I will get back to you soon.

  • Hi Kaji,

As FLT/ pin is an open-drain pin, you can leave it floating when unused.

We cannot provide exact MIN and MAX values for 0.6A current limit setting as it has not been characterized at that value but you can get a fair idea by looking at Figure 16. Also, you can consider the accuracy/variation to be close to what it is for 0.49 A setting.

There will be a slight difference in the current limit value in the EC table vs what you obtain by the formula because the the equation is obtained by curve fitting from the actual values. The values in the EC table are actual values obtained from device testing and Characterization.
