LM25180: phase margin and Cout

Part Number: LM25180

Hi, Team

this is MASA.

could you see below ?

Q1. should customer consider how much Cout is ?

-> i do think so regarding ripple at output. correct?

Q2.is there equation to select how much its value is appropriate?

Q3.

is there any way to do something around the IC with external component if loop compensation inside IC were not good enough.

Q4.

How IC compensates loop internally ?

is there any apps note or any image to know how those work?

  • Hi Masa,

I think webench should be a good starting point for your design

As far as improving the compensation, i think since internally compensated, i am not sure if there is something can be done to improve the loop compensation.

I will see if i can find more information on the compensation

    Thanks

  • Hi Masa-san,

Thanks for our question. Stability is generally set by the output capacitance, as there isn't another way to adjust the loop (externally). In general, we target 1% ripple in Vout at full load, and this typically aligns with stability performance as well. I will follow up via direct email with more information.
