BQ78350-R1: SMBus pull-ups

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Hello;

Would you confirm the rating for the pull-down FETs on the SMBD and SMBC I/O's.  From the datasheet, it appears it can be as high as 800 ohms (0.4V/500uA). However, the bq78350-bq76920 EVM I'm using shows the ACK's from the 78350 pulling no lower that ~600mV (SMBD)??

Also, I had planned on using the internal pull-up's on the STM32L micro, but just read in the SMBus spec that the minimum Current through pull-up resistor is 100uA. The u/C's internal pull-up ranges from 25K to as high as 55K, which would violate that spec for any R above 33K (with Vdd = 3.3V).

Does TI recommend a maximum pull-up for SMB? , or do you leave that to the SMBus spec.

Thanks

  • Hi Jeffrey,

    We do not have a maximum pull-up recommendation. This device was characterized several years ago and I don't think that this parameter was swept to find the min/max possible values. We normally point users to the SMBus spec.
