PTN78020 On/Off Inhibit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PTN78020W

Hello,

Just wondering if someone can give me a simple circuit setup for the inhibit pin on the PTN78020xxx power supply.  What type of FET should I use, and what kind of resistance should I be looking at putting between the voltage supply and the gate?  Do I need a resistance between the pin and the FET?  I was hoping to use an SOT-23 style package for the FET because I'm creating a PCB to mount this circuit to.

Thanks for any insight.

  • The PTN78020W and H version step-down regulators can use  open drain FET  to control the inhibit pin.

The inhibit pin voltage when open has  maximum voltage of about 4V . When the inhibit pin islow and controlled by a open drain FET, the  maximum current si about 1mA. The BSS138 or equivalent with RDS on   0.1 ohms is mentioned in the product specification .page 18. The page is attached .
