BQ77915: load connection

Part Number: BQ77915
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77905

Hi,

we are working on bq77915 for battery protection. we have a 3s configuration. Instead using pack -ve terminal to connect the load, can the load -ve terminal be connected between the Fet drain terminals? we want to add a functionality to our design where the load is given high priority when the adapter is connected to the system ( Eg: if the load and adapter are connected to the system, the load load should be met by the adapter).

Is there any way to achieve this functionality ?

Thank-you

  • Hi Harini,

Please refer to figure 7 of this app note for more details:

This is for the BQ77905, but it is a very similar device. The only difference is that the BQ77915 has OCC as well. This shouldn't be an issue with this configuration. A load on the charger terminals will recover by pulling up LD, but a load on the DPACK- would also cause recovery even if the over-powered charger was still attached.
