BQ25150: I2C communication not possible when /LP not connected with VIO

Part Number: BQ25150

Hi,

I noticed that when I disconnect VIN, the BQ25150 can not communicate with the Host even when VBAT is present. Once I connect VIN it works great but not without.

If I connect /LP to VIO or the VDD (when operated via external IO I2C Supply), the Host can communicate with the BQ25150 when only VBAT is connected (out of ship mode of course).

Is there any solution to communicate via I2C when /LP is left floating?

Could you please add this information to the datasheet, because I could find that information anywhere, could be useful for future engineers.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello,

There is an internal pulldown on /LP so when you leave the pin floating, the device will enter low power mode when on Battery only. You can either pull /LP high or if you have /LP floating, you can pull /MR low when you want to communicate with the device. Please take a look at section 8.4.2 of the datasheet.
