Hi,

Who have ever testing the XL SMBus mode (400 kHz) with BQ40z80 ?

I have understanding that this mode must be using only for write .srec file but I doesn't have succes with BQStudio. The GG is crashed in XL Mode when I send "Program" command !.

I would recommend to not use the XL mode for now. We will check if it is possible to program the device in XL mode and get back to you

Hello Loic,

It maybe a hardware issue. Are you using external EV2300 or EV2400 or onboard EV2400? Which version of FW are you using? One recommendation is to look at you SMBus signals in XL mode and provide use a scope capture. In my experience extra capacitance and series resistance (long cables) can cause signal integrity issue at higher clock speeds. Please inspect you HW setup and provide oscilloscope captures, if additional assistance is needed.

I'm using an external (USB-SMBus) EV2400 with V0.28 Firmware, and BQStudio V1.3.96.

Hi Loic,

Your SMBus signals looks really bad. Was this captured at TP10 and TP11 with proper scope grounding? Can you try using the onboard EV2400? I will run a similar setup as you to confirm XL mode.

Hi Damian,

I'm not using BQ40Z80EVM-020 board but a custom Board. I have only 100 R resistor between External EV2400 and [SMBD&SMBC] of BQ40z80.

I'm interesting about your oscilloscope captures!

Hi Loic,

Sorry for the additional work. 400k SMBus comms are supported by bq40z80, but not integrated properly into bqStudio.
