BQ27Z561-R1: Unique Serial Number or ID

Hi Team,

My customer has a couple questions on the BQ27z561-R1 that I'd like to run by you guys:

  1. They would like to have the ability to uniquely identify each battery pack in software and the fuel gauge is the only "intelligent" component in the pack. Does the BQ27z561-R1 have a unique serial number or ID that they can access?
  2. If the answer to #1 is no, is there a section of flash they can use to store a serial number? At least 4 bytes would be required here to ensure no overlap.

    Hi Mitchell

    They could read the device no, or firmware version which will be the same for all the packs. If they want a unique identifier for each pack they can use the system data portion of data flash. There are manufacturer info blocks that unique values can be written to.
