Hi team,

I want to ask about peripheral capacitor.

1, There is a description on the datasheet, "Choose a 0.1 µF ceramic capacitor with a 10 V or greater rating for CCOMP and CBOOT." on 9.4.1 Standard Component Selection

Why do we need 10V or greater rating for CBOOT?

Is the capacitor rating depends on VIN voltage or PH voltage?

2, Why do we need capacitor between IADJ and ground?

Is there any requirements for the capacitor?

    Hello Hideki,

    1)  Cboot voltage nominal is 6V, a 10V ceramic capacitor is next standard voltage rating above 6.3V.  The Voltage on Cboot does not have anything to do with PH voltage, it is just referenced to PH.  Comp can use a lower voltage capacitor however capacitance on high value MLCC capacitors changes with applied voltage.  A higher voltage rated capacitor will not drop capacitance value as fast.  On COMP this would change the frequency response, though if designed conservative it really shouldn't matter.

    2)  If the layout is good and there is no noise on Iadj you can probably get away without a capacitor.  Since it controls the current set-point it is good practice to filter it to prevent noise from causing unwanted operation.  There is no real requirement, it should be rated above any voltage applied to it.

    Note that 9.4.1 is a design example.
