BQ24193: How should we set PSEL and OTG?

Hi,

There is the PSEL pin that is described as the power source selection input. As of now we are considering to have both PSEL and OTG grounded.

1) Does this input (PSEL high or low) affect anything else than the input current (being 3A or 100mA/500mA)?

2) It is shown in the datasheet that PSEL can be connected directly to ground. To achieve high state instead, can it be connected directly to 3.3V (without pull-up resistor)?

3) My source is 12V/500mA. I will not be using the boost mode (OTG). What PSEL/OTG setup would you suggest? I was considering PSEL low since it is similar to a 12V adapter and simple to implement, yet the current limit is more similar to a USB host. The option to PSEL/OTG = low/low I was thinking of was high/high, if so hopefully without additional component (hence question #2).

    Hi,

    Regarding 1, no.  PSEL only affects input current register setting at power up.

    Regarding 2, yes.

    Regarding 3, I recommend PSEL=OTG=GND and then use ILIM pin to clamp input current limit lower than 3A in IINDPM register as set per PSEL if you need to.
