TPS3701: Internal clamp diodes?

Part Number: TPS3701

Hello,

has the TPS3701 internal clamp diodes on its inputs INA / INB?

If not, is there a suggestion how to protect the inputs from negative voltages (ESD/burst) below -0.3V (absolute maximum rating)?

A schottky diode cannot be used, because the high leakage current at higher ambient temperature shifts the window.

  • Oliver,

There are no clamps on this device to protect against negative voltages, we typically recommend external protection such as Schottky diodes or TVS (transient voltage suppression) diodes for adding protection against negative voltages.

Is it possible to size the resistor divider such that the current flowing through the external divider is much larger than the leakage so the threshold accuracy isn't impacted? Also, we have content to increase hysteresis if the window is so tight that the leakage is causing false triggers.

There has to be some combination of component values along with discrete components so that your circuit is protected and functional. Please provide more information about your resistor values, desired voltage thresholds, and expected voltage range on INA/INB for futher assistance. If any of the information is sensitive please email me at michaeldesando@ti.com thanks!
