TPS7A05: Max EN pin current

Part Number: TPS7A05

Hi,

My customer got questions regarding TPS7A05 LDO regulator.

  1. To calculate the maximum pullup resistor value between EN and Vin that will keep the regulator enabled, I would like to know the maximum EN pin current - but only a typical value is specified on the datasheet.

Please can you find out the maximum EN current, or a maximum they should design to? If it helps, the device will not exceed 85C.

  1. The EN pin has a 0.9V threshold. When there is a volt drop across the pullup resistor, does the ground current / quiescent current / EN current increase when the EN pin is below Vin but above the 0.9V threshold?

Thanks,

  • Hi Sebestian,

Simulations actually show the max enable current to be 2.6 nA, however we'd recommend using the 10 nA listed in the datasheet for your calculation to add some additional margin in case there are board level leakages which might overcome the pull down current. Obviously the customer will know their application in more depth and they may need to account for higher board level leakage.

Having Ven lower than Vin will not increase the currents in the device, but if Ven is higher than Vin additional current will flow from Ven to Vin.
