TL750L: Recommended output capacitor

Hi team,

My customer considers to use TL750L05CKC because of another IC supplier's device EOL.

TL750L is sensitive to ESR as shown in Figuire.1.

Could you please propose recommended output capacitor(lead type) for this device?

Whatever capacitor(film, ceramic, electrolytic) is fine except for tantalum capacitor.

Hi Mago-san,

The general recommendation for using a ceramic capacitor in place of a Tantalum is to add a series resistance based on the plot in figure 1, a 0.25Ohm resistor might be what you need. Also looking at this plot the minimum load current should exceed 10mA for stability.

Do they need this high of an input voltage? If so the TPS709 might be better, if VIn is less than 20, maybe the TPS7A24.

Thanks for your reply.

The customer needs TO-220 package and R/C/L components are also required to be lead type because of old board design.

Do you have output capacitor/series resistor suggestion for this device?

HI Mago-san,

Maybe something like this https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/tdk-corporation/FK14X5R1C106KR006/FK14X5R1C106KR006-ND/7326978 in series with a 0.2 - 0.25Ohm resistor can work. It would be best to test to confirm.
