BQwizard version 3: where's the SAA_Utiliity.zip???

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQWIZARD, USB2GPIO-LOADER-SW

I am evaluating the "BQ78PL114EVM-001". I am using the "USB-TO-GPIO" to communicate to this evaluation module. I am running the BQwizard version 3 software on a 32-bit Win XP platform. The BQwizard software documentation says that you need to reprogram the USB-to-GPIO module with a updated firmware that's specific to the BQwizard.

HOWEVER during the transition from version 2 to version 3 of the BQwizard software, it appears that the "SAA_Utility.zip" was not included in the new version. This .zip contains the needed usb.bin file (USB-to-GPIO firmware file) to update the USB-to-GPIO module so that you can communicate with the evaluation module. My question is: Where can I get the SAA_Utility.zip (or even better .. the usb.bin file)? Are the older versions of BQwizard software posted in a software repository? If yes, what's the URL to this repository?

  • I believe the update is done via the UsbDongleConfiguration.exe program now (in the root bqWizard install dir). See the beginning of  the Firmware Update Procedure.txt file in the Documents subdir for the procedure.

Have you tried using the USB-to-GPIO module as is, just to see if it might work anyway?

If both of the above don't work, I've uploaded the installer for bqWizard 2.5.18 in the Files folder of my E2E profile. You can install that, do your firmware update, and then go back to 3.0.16. Let me know if you do d'l the file so I can then delete it.

  • The firmware in the USB-to-GPIO can be updated with the  utility. It should be easier to use than SAA_Utility, has a feature to save the current version as well as update, and the installation has the has the new & old bin files. The USB2GPIO-LOADER-SW has instructions in a Readme.txt file. The bqWizard user guide must have an update pending.

If the USB-to-GPIO was already updated for the earlier bqWizard, it should work with the new bqWizard.
