For the common parts reason, I'd like to use buck or boost converter be used as SEPIC topology
1. Can non-sync. buck converter be used as SEPIC or inverting boost topology?
2. Can non-sync. boost converter be used as SEPIC topology?

This is a great question.
The SEPIC converter is derived from the boost converter

A ZETA topology performs like SEPIC but is buck derived.

Both of these methods will produce an output voltage that can be higher or lower than the input voltage, buck boost operation.
So depending on your spare controller, you can make a buck boost converter.
These 2 papers show examples of each with tested data, schematics, bill of material.
