BQ76930: When the UV is trigger, the BQ doesn't goes to ship mode

I'm using BQ76930 for BMS. When battery voltage is below undervoltage threshold, the BQ76930 doesn't go to ship mode. I measured on the pin REGOUT which is still 3.3V. The ADC_EN from sys_con1 is set to 1 already. What could be the issue?

Hi Dazhuang,

The BQ76930 does not go into SHIP mode unless you send the command to go into SHIP mode or if the voltage goes below VSHUT for the device (which is much lower than the undervoltage threshold). When undervoltage fault is detected, the DSG FET should turn off and the status bit for this fault will be set in the status register. But the device will not go into SHIP mode.

Hello Matt,

Thank you for your reply. In the datasheet, it is mentioned that the device always enters SHIP mode upon POR event. What is the POR event stands for here?

I think that means Power on Reset. So after power cycle it will by default enter the ship mode

Hi Dazhuang, Omkar,

Right, POR is power on reset. When you apply power it will be in ship mode, you must boot the part with a rising edge on TS1 to get to normal. It does not go to ship mode with UV, it will stay in normal mode and report the UV condition.

Is there an protection error will trigger the BQ76930 to the ship mode? Or it can only be triggered by setting the configure in register?
