About Bypass Capacitance

Hello,

This is general question.

I could find that almost recommended bypass capacitance is 0.1uF, I could not find other values for the bypass capacitance.

Are there any reason that bypass capacitance is only 0.1uF.

Can I use 1uF or 0.01uF ceramic capacitor as a bypass capacitor?

Thank you

  • Hi GARAM,

The capacitor value is chosen according to the optimal performance of the application. The bypass capacitors determine the response of the regulator. 0.01uF capacitor can be used as the bypass capacitor if it will affect the device performance at your desired frequency.

How to select the input-output capacitor for the device are explained well in this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slta055/slta055.pdf

    Best regards,
